Magic Trikes are a new breed of trike and flex-wing. The Magic
Spirit and Magic Laser wings are not borrowed hang gliders. They are
specifically designed to take the extra loads imposed by the trike,
engine and pilot.
About trikes
A trike is a flex-wing aircraft with a motorized tricycle gear carriage.
It is controlled by weight shifting. There are no control surfaces,
linkages, or control cables. The flex-wing is very responsive because
it can change its shape, like having full-span ailerons. Trikes are
simpler than fixed-wing aircraft. Most trikes can carry considerably
more payload than their empty weight. The speed range of trikes is
ideal for open-air flying, and is sufficient for cross-country flying.
Flying a trike fulfills the dream of flying free like a bird.
The Magic trike is quickly folded for transport on car-top or on a small
trailer. You can take it along on vacation and fly wherever you want.
You can keep it in your garage and avoid the high cost of hangar rent.
For the new pilot, a trike is easier to learn to fly than a fixed-wing
aircraft. It is very stable. Its control system is simple and
intuitive. For the pilot experienced in airplanes or fixed-wing
ultralights, learning to fly a trike is a new adventure. Most of your
flight skills are applicable to trikes. Airplane pilots transitioning
to ultralights should be aware that they will need training for
fixed-wing ultralights as well as for trikes, because the speed and
energy for ultralights are considerably different than for airplanes.
Why a single place trike?
Most pleasure flying is done solo. A single-place trike is less
expensive to buy, less expensive to operate, easier to set up, and
easier to transport than a two-place aircraft. This makes more time and
money available for flying. You do not need a pilot license or aircraft
registration to fly a Magic Trike in the USA because it complies with
Part 103 of the Federal Air Regulations.
You can learn to fly a trike from any
Ultralight or Sport Pilot instructor who has a weight shift rating.
Magic Trike Models
The Magic Spirit wing is lighter in weight and quicker to set up.
It is ideal for local low and slow flying, short takeoff and landing,
and for ease of setup.
The Magic Laser wing offers higher performance for cross-country flying.
Four engine choices are available: the 26 hp Simonini Mini 2 Plus, the 40 hp Rotax 447, the 44 hp
Simonini Victor 1, and the 48 hp Simonini Victor 1 Plus.
Analog engine instruments are standard. A complete digital instrument package is available.
The Magic Trike design has many important ergonomic and practical features as standard:
- Steering forks are adjustable for leg length.
- Large steering bar on front forks for stable ground control.
- The heavily padded and comfortable seat has extended thigh support.
- Integral head rest is standard.
- 5 Point harness with integral adjustable shoulder and chest straps.
- Front wheel brake operated by a linkage (no cable).
- The mast folds forward above the engine for easy, one person detachment of the wing.
- Dual throttles (Foot and hand cruise control).
- Large purpose built hand throttle.
- Leather covered control console.
- 5 gallon fuel tank with sight gauge.
- Instrument panel with instruments installed.
- Internal 38 liter zipped baggage compartments.
Magic Trikes are offered fully equipped and ready to fly, or in kit form.
The kits contain trike, wing, engine, and instruments.
Everything is pre-drilled and ready to bolt together.

About Ace Aviation
Ace Aviation
started the design on the single seater Magic
Microlight series in 1999. It has been tested, modified
and produced in India since then. Materials from Europe and America are
used in the construction of the trike, air-frame and sail. The airframe
tubing is certified for ultralight construction. John Penry-Evans who
originally came from Wales in the UK has been involved in the aerosports
industry since the 1970's. He directs all of Ace Aviation's production
work in India and together with a workforce of 18 skilled people keeps
the standard of the finished product very high.
Magic Trikes are VERY, VERY affordable!
